INTRODUCCTION:

Choquequirao Trek New Discovery 4 Day.The archeological site of Choquequirao is part of the complex system of Andean towns in the Vilcabamba valley. In Inca times it was joined in direct communication to the Machu Picchu by a complex network of trails. Choquequirao is a Trek of 63 Km. which is advised to passengers who are used to long treks and that are in excellent physical shape and have strong endurance. Choquequirao invites you to discover the Inca’s last place of refuge, “The Gold Crib”: The archeological ruins of Choquequirao are also known as “Machu Picchu’s Sacred Sister” due to the similarities in the arquitectural structure of both sites. This trail has a 6-7 hour trekking time per day in average. Therefore, it is a very challenging trek meant for the physically fit. CHOQUEQUIRAO: Is situated in the spurs of the mountain range of the Salkantay, at 3,035m.a.s.l. Surrounded by the snowcapped Apus of Yanama, Ampay, Choquetacarpo, Pumasillo and Panta on the right side of the Apurimac river in the Santa Teresa district in the province of La Convenciòn, in the Cusco department. The ruins at Choquequirao are comprised of buildings and terraces at different levels from the lower level Sunchu`Pata to the truncated hill top.

    • Pre-departure briefing: You will meet your guide and group in our office, for an orientation trek and provide you the duffle bags which will be carried by our horses. meeting at 6:00 PM the evening before the trip begins.

    • Accommodation: 3 nights in Personal tents: 2 people in each 4-people-capacity tent, to allow for higher comfort and a safe keeping of backpacks. Our tents are 3-season, highly maintained to ensure an excellent performance in field. Kailas, Pro aconcagua and Rei 4 Outfitter tents are employed when double accommodation is requested.
    • Camping equipment: Dining and kitchen tents, tables, chairs.
    • Foam mats or sleeping pads: to put under your sleeping bag (carried by horses)
    • Horses (for equipment and personal items) including horsemen. They carry camping equipment, food and kitchen utensils.
    • 1 emergency horse which can be ridden if you are feeling ill or if are a little slower
    • Accommodation: 3 nights in tent
    • 1 Duffle Bag: Where you can put your personal belongings (7 kilograms = 15 lbs) which includes your sleeping bag.
    • Trekking Cook: In charge to prepared all the meals along the journey, over 6 people cook assistant

    •  Wake up tea: Every morning at the campsite we will wake you up with a cup of coca tea our support staff will bring the coca tea to your tent in order to wake you up.
    • Tea time = Happy Hour: Every afternoon 1 hour before dinner the cooks will let on the dining table pop-corn, biscuits, coffee, chocolate, different type of teas, hot water, etc. this is because after a day of hiking many are hungry and it is a bit annoying to wait till dinner that why we provide tea time.
    • Daily snacks – Days 1, 2, and 3: Our Snacks consist of local fruits, biscuits, chocolate, Caramels we will give this snack at the beginning of each day trek in a cloth bag to avoid environmental contamination.
    • One textile snack bag per person: to avoid the usage of plastic bags that contaminate our environment
    • Water grooming: Each morning warm water with towel

    1. Extreme First Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CUSCO - CACHORA - CHIQUISHCA:

      First Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CUSCO – CACHORA – CHIQUISHCA:
      We start off from Cusco at 6:00 am in the morning arriving at the Cachora town at 11:00 am where we will have our lunch. There, after arranging the equipment on mules and horses we`ll observe the majestic Padrajoc and the Wayna Cachora snow covered peaks. We`ll appreciate the impressive change of the landscape from precipices to snowy mountains.
      On the way, we will observe the Apurimac canyon with its stunning depth and then in Santa Rosa we will set up our campsite.
      The approximate time of the hike is about 8 hours. On this day we will pass by the small settlements: la Colmena (2870 above sea level), Cocamasana (2330 above sea level ), Torowisqana(2285above sea level ), Chiquisca(1950 above sea level ) grove place where we can find water; Playa Rosalina(camp in 155 above sea level ), La Huerta (2705 above sea level ) and finally we arrive at Santa Rosa (2115 above sea level ).

    2. Extreme Second Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CHIQUISHCA - MARAMPATA:

      Second Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CHIQUISHCA – MARAMPATA:
      Early in the morning (5:00 am) after having breakfast; we get along our hike going up to Choquequirao. We will arrive at the archeological site of Choquequirao after 5 hours. Good time to enjoy that imposing place. We will observe the three levels of the excavated ruins, where we can appreciate houses, terraces and other sections of this last Inca stronghold. We`ll also appreciate the exploring progression. Finally, we`ll notic unexplored areas – that can tell us about this last refuge of the oppressed Inca empire. Approximately, at 3 o´clock in the afternoon (depending on the weather) we`ll appreciate ”the flight of the condors”.
      Choquequirao is regarded as ”The Last Refuge of the Inca Empire.” The oldest reports assign to Juan Ariaz Diaz, being one of the first persons who explored the zone about 1710.
      Our bilingual guide will explain you the history and importance of the site after the Spanish arrived at Perù. We will have our lunch and dinner in Rayacpata (2910masl).

    3. Extreme Third Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; MARAMPATA - CHOQUEQUIRAW - MARAMPATA - CHIQUISHCA:

      Third Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAW – MARAMPATA – CHIQUISHCA:
      After an early breakfast we pack and start walking back to Chiquiska. We can observe again the Apurimac canyon. Here we may be lucky to appreciate the flight of the condors, the exuberant vegetation and its variety of flowers and orchids. The time of the hike is about 10hours. Altitude: 3033- 1950 above sea level. passing by the same small settlements. As we go upwards, we will stop in Playa Rosalina where we will have our lunch and after that we`ll get along to Chiquiaca. Here, we are going to spend the night on our campsite.

    4. Extreme Fourth Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CHIQUISQA - CACHORA - CUSCO:

      Fourth Day on CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK; CHIQUISQA – CACHORA – CUSCO:
      Early in the morning after having breakfast (5:00 am) we`ll continue – arriving at the Cachora town. Along the hike we can appreciate again the majestic Padrajoc snow-covered peak that decorates the Apurimac canyon.
      The time of hiking to arrive at Cachora is about 7h. On the way back to Cusco we`ll make an optional stop in Cconoc to enjoy from its natural hot Springs!!
      Showers are available. The same day we can see native products of the area.
      We will arrive at Cusco at approximately 10 PM.
