This jewel is protected by the mountains of Salkantay and Humantay at 4,200 meters,( 13,779 ft.) is located in the Vilcabamba mountain range in the Andes of southern Peru in the district of Mollepata (Anta).
With a mystical feel, the lagoon is visited by “shamans” and tourists from all over the world to leave offerings to the Pachamama, deity that represents Mother Earth in the QUECHUA – “INCA” culture. By placing stones they offer an offering to the Pachamama thanking her for having successfully reached the lagoon.

We will pick you up from your hotel from 04:00 to 05:00 am, and then continue our journey of 2 hours and 30, where we can appreciate picturesque landscapes and the lush Apurimac River, until we reach the town of Mollepata where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast typical of the area.
After breakfast we will return to our minivan to continue our tour and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and gorges that surround us to the town of Soraypampa, where we will begin our hike to the Humantay Lagoon. On the way we will have impressive views of the Humantay Lagoon and amazing viewpoints appreciating all the scenic beauty of the place that will allow us to take stunning photographs for the memory.
From Soraypampa to the Humantay Lagoon are 2 km, which can be done between 1 hour and 30 to 2 hours of walking approximately. We will be able to appreciate on one side the Nevado de Humantay at 4200 meters above sea level and on the other side the imposing Nevado de Salkantay. At the Laguna de Humantay we will have free time of approximately 1 hour to rest, take pictures and appreciate the landscape, here the guide will give a demonstration of the use of the coca leaf and give an offering to the mountains that the Incas recommend sacred: “Apus”.
After all this beautiful adventure we will descend to where our minivan left us (Soraypampa). Continuing the trip we will go to Mollepata where we will enjoy our delicious lunch buffet of the region and after that we will return to Cusco, arriving to the city at 18:30. This is the end of our full day trek to the Humantay Lagoon.

The best season to visit the Humantay Lagoon are in the months of May to September, which are the dry season.
You can visit year round, the months of December to March can be very rainy and make access difficult.
